In a partnership with CSC Global Technologies, a Canadian company, BCn will employ CSC's state-of-the-art video and audio compression technologies and Digital Rights Management Software to digitally broadcast the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship. CSC is a world leader in video and audio compression with the ability to deliver high-definition television (HDTV) signals over a DSL or high speed Internet cable connection. “This is the Internet broadcasting breakthrough that we have all been looking for,” said Rob Sykora, President of Billiard Club Network. “Viewers around the world will be able to watch the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship on their PC in full-screen, TV-quality that is equal to or greater than conventional cable or satellite channels. All you need is a standard broadband or high speed Internet connection.” Billiard Club Network will be offering all feature matches and news reports from Inside Pool Magazine and others, “live” during the 32nd Annual U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship, October 14-20, 2007 from the Chesapeake Conference Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. All live match programming and news reports will also be available for event subscribers, on-demand. “We haven’t been this excited since we first launched our weekly cable broadcasts in 2003,” comments Sykora. “Viewers will enjoy pool like never before when they see the clarity of the balls and the expressions on the faces of the world’s greatest players. All the action will be broadcast live in a full-screen, television-quality picture.” To deliver the most value to the pool and billiard fans around the world, BCn is offering several “live” pay-per view packages designed to offer this high-quality program at an affordable price. “Billiard Club Network has always been a leader in delivering the best in tournament match play to pool fans around the world and this breakthrough in Internet Television Technology is a further demonstration of our commitment to the sport,” said Sykora.
