Brunswicks pool table are so hard to find because it's the only brand that most people know. As far as finding one, try local estate sales and auctions. I have a few friends that got good deals on them at auction because everybdoy there only went for small things and didn't have a way to trnasport the table home. Then there's people that want them and will bid but aren't sure if it will fit int heir house. Some just don't have their "other half" with them and that makes a difference when buying a pool table. Long story even longer, auctions are great places to buy a pool table because you weed out a lot of competition and the price is usually low.

I like Brunswick rails. They're hard to beat. I like the way they feel when I put my hand on them and I like the way the balls bounce off of them. I think that a lot of others agree with me on this.

If you have plenty of time on your hands and it covers your area you can trawl through Craigslist. I had to do this for about 4 weeks when looking for my table. Gold Crown's did pop up every so often. The best deals, as you might expect, are from sellers who don't even know what they are. However the downside is you can't rely on the subject/description to be accurate. You have to manually open and check every listing if you want to find that bargain, and if you are really serious physically visit people who don't even know how to upload a photo. Make SURE to physically measure any table you plan to buy to ensure you know what size it is, as 90% of the listings I saw were from people with no idea how to determine the correct size of a table. Almost every single listing claims the size is "professional". "tournament" and/or "regulation" with no concept of what this actually is. (The best method is to measure from the tips of the rails, a 9' table should be exactly 50" x 100")

Also watch out for worn-out rubber on the rails of GCIIIs, they have a bad reputation for not lasting well. Nothing that can't be replaced of course, but you may need to factor in this cost when buying.

Many of the GC III's, with ball returns, have a problem with the balls falling out of the return box. The rest of the table is as good as any GC, so it is not a reason not to buy one, for the right price, but it may require some small alterations. Just a little FYI.

If someone that actually plays pool needs to measure a table to see if it's an 8 or 9 footer.....they need to stop playing pool. The difference is so obvious it's not even funny.
MULLY
then again I only play on 9 footers so when I see an 8 footer it looks tiny
