Buy a Gandy?

Default Buy a Gandy?
I have been looking for a used pool table for the last few months. I have run across a Gandy which is about 12 years old. I am going to take a look at it this weekend but was hoping some one could tell be a little about the construction of Gandy tables. Here is the description. It says Grandy but an certain that he meant Gandy (3rd picture shows a "G").

"Grandy Pool table solid oak with slate bed in very good condition. Blue felt in very good condition. "

Here is what I would like to know. Do all Gandy tables have framed slate (I do not want the felt glued to the slate)? Is there a way I can tell if the slate is oversized? How can I test if the bumpers are good or bad? Do I have to worry about the slate being warped? Is there anything else I should check out when I look at the table?

Thanks!

The only place near me that has 9ft tables has all Gandy tables. Some are good, but some are old. THe old ones sorta diminish the cue ball speed with a thud or donk sound off the rail. They almost all roll true, but some rails are bad. And some of the cloth is old.

They were selling a few for $1600 a while back, but the ones they were selling needed new felt and rubber rails.

BUT, the good ones are good. So I play on the good ones, lol. Had they sold good ones I'd have bought them.
