So Matchroom Sport confirmed this morning that Ralf Souquet, Tony Drago, and Konstantin Stepanov will represent half of Team Europe, while Rodney Morris, Earl Strickland, and Johnny Archer will represent Team USA.

Anyone want to guess who the other six players will be?

Hi Sally, In response to your question 2 more players have been announced for each team. Shane van Boening who recently won the 2007 US Open has been added to team USA whilst Niels Feijen who has already appeared in 4 previous Mosconi cups has been selected for team Europe. I believe the remain places will be filled after the current World Championships being played in the Philippines. Personally I think Corey Deuel is in with a very good chance if he keeps his current form up and I'm travelling from the UK to support team Europe !!!!!

This is the link if your interested :

Assuming that they will be using the current UPA rankings, it looks like Corey Deuel should be the final choice, with Ronnie Wiseman being the next in line.

I have no idea who will be picked for the European team. The top choice seems to be Mika Immonen.

A good question is, when will Matchroom stop putting Earl on the USA team? Currently, he is just not the best choice, when building a competitive team.

Earl's game has deteriorated, but he's still a big name marquee person. Jim Rempe represented the USA in the Mosconi Cup years past his playing prime.

Hi everyone,

Although it hasn't been confirmed as of time of writing, if the remain places are to be filled by the preformances of the World 9 Ball Championships ( As I'm lead to believe ) the remain place of the US team will be taken by Corey Deuel who had an excellent Championships and has the experience to back up his claim for a spot. Team Europe will be completed by a gentleman by the name of Daryl Peach. Daryl is a UK 9 ball player whom also had a good world championship like Corey but with the difference being Daryl actually went on to win the World Title beating home country favourite Efren Reyes no less on the way to the Final.

In response to your question about Earl Strickland, RichR, its a tough call because he's an amazing player and without a shadow of doubt, one of the greatest players of all time but he's a loose cannon and an entertainer whom the viewing public love to watch and makes for great TV so whilst he has had better years on the circuits and in tournaments etc etc, I feel this is more a " viewers pick "

Sally, sounds like a plan for us having a beer and a chat, I'll look forward to chatting to you further

Take care everyone and see you at the Mosconi

Hi everyone

Just a little update with regards to the final places on each team. As I mentioned in my previous posts, the last 2 slots have been awarded to the players that went furthest in the World Championships recently held in Manila, Phillipines. Representing team USA will be Corey Deuel and representing team Europe will be the recently crowned World Champion, Daryl Peach.

Below is the link to the website where the news article is

Can't wait for this year's event, see you at the Mosconi
