Is she shy? The reason why I ask is that I saw several pool media folks approach Sarah to request an interview as well as shoot a short video clip, but she seemed to shun the cameras and did not want to be in the limelight. My horse, of course, is quite the opposite.
I found Sarah Ellerby intriguing, but quite refreshing, quiet and an unassuming-type personality. Inquiring minds want to know more! Tell us the story of how she got her nickname "Velvet."

Sarah's nickname before she left England was the "Ice Maiden" so of course she needed a new nickname for the States. "Velvet"
Remember when Hollywood really had the power to make us laugh and cry
as movie patrons. I first saw a movie called National Velvet in a Saturday
movie when I was a kid. You understand you cued up and got in the movie
for a dime on Saturday if you were 18 or under and the movies lasted till evening features started.
It stared this beautiful English lady Elizabeth Taylor born in Hampstead, London England Feb. 27th 1932. Her roll was Velvet Brown the daughter
of Mr. Herbert Brown (Donald Crisp) Horse Trainer. Well to make a long story short.
Sarah used to ride and help her father train turf race horses. So the nickname "Velvet" for Velvet Brown of National Velvet and "Velvet" smooth as "Velvet" on the "Velvet" cloth. LOL
I think one of the world's finest copy writer's and one beautiful Irish women, Helen Gaughran, was the person behind the nickname. Helen is a fine pool player also. I spent three days with them watching at the first and last Texas Tornado Tournament in San Antonio Texas in 2003. But that is another beautiful story. Oh, don't tell Sarah but like millions of movie fans I am still in love with Elizabeth Taylor.

God bless her!
