Thanks Greg. That makes me feel much better about going. I'm a small girl and security is an issue for me.

Greg, I can appreciate your position. You seem very wise and I trust what you say. The officers will definitely help. I don't know much but I can say that they should cause many bad guys to think twice before that try something. You are a good man Greg for thinking of everybody's safety. not many people do that. Thanks again.

I have to admit, I didn't really think about this until this thread. Know that I know I'll be even a little more careful. This is good advise from Greg/diamond about every tournament and pool room. He seems to be carfeul and has us in mind. Thanks Greg/diamond.

I've been to the Derby the past 2 years and have been wandering that place at all hours of the day/night. Common-sense safety is the best policy and there's no reason to feel scared to go there, day or night. My experiences are based on staying at the ExecWest, so I don't have to worry about wandering in the parking lot to get to my car to leave every night.

Post Security Issues
I had the pleasure of attending Derby City Classic last January; in relation to the security, I have to say that it was very professional. The main action room is right in the front of the Executive West and uniformed police officers browsed the area very often to ensure nothing was going on. The regular hotel security make their presence felt as well and will even escort you to your room if you have any concerns. I would imagine that it's possible for something to happen of course, but if you careful it's highly unlikely. I didn't see anyone have any problems. I even slept in the action room with my cues next to my chair and no one bothered them. (Not that I would recommend that.) All in all, I felt very safe, as well you should.

I just got back from the DCC Wed. While there I had a weird experience that is on point to this discussion. One of the nights I was there I was in the main practice room, sweating a one pocket match that I had per game action with someone I didnt know. I went to go pay him off and I went looking for 50 in my pocket and inadvertently pulled out my main bankroll. I pay the guy and we bet a few more games, eventually breaking even and I leave to go watch Jay's midnight ring game.

6 hrs later I am walking to my room and I see the guy I was betting with talking to this guy in the halls. As I pass by they start talking in whispers and I swear I hear the one guy say the word "Asian" really low. I'm Japanese. After one more short loop through the main practice room I start to head to my room and as the elevator door opens I look and see that the other guy that the guy I was betting with was talking to is now right next to me. We are alone and at 6am there is still foot traffic but alot less than normal. I immediately got this really weird feeling and I feigned like I forgot something and walked away to the front desk.

This really creeped me out. Be careful folks. Dont be dumb with your bankroll like I was.
