hi

first post here so go easy. Anyway i am also looking for a pool table for an apartment, im no expert so im here to find some anwers from those who are.

anyway im torn between a 6ft and a 7ft table. i wish i could be lucky enough to have space for an 8footer or bigger but in an apartment i just dont have space in abundance. the room i will use has no furniture or anything except for an empty space where a pool table will sit.

my first question is whether it is even worth buying a 6ft pool table? for me im just not sure, they seem so small, if all i could fit was a 6 footer then is it even worth having one at all? or is that an overeaction?

my second question is probably not in the right part of the forums but it is relevant to my choice of pool table, the question is what are people opinions of 36inch cues? i will definetly need one no matter what size table i pick for the room for shots near and against the rail at the sides of the table, at the top and bottom i should be fine with bigger cues and also i should be fine for balls nearer the centre of the table

my third question is how much extra space do you need above the length of the cue and the dimensions of the playing surface? i have about 2 inches on both of the sides if i use a 36 inch cue and have my cue perfectly horizontal, but as mentioned before the cue is not always horizontal, at the top and the bottom of the table i have sufficient space. i measured and marked it all out on my floor and cut a bit of wood to 36 inches and i was pretty comfortable with it but still, thats a far cry from the real thing

and finally just an afterthought really, i have a table in mind and it is of course slate, but as i mentioned before i live on the apartment on the 3rd floor, i dont think the table should be too heavy for a standard apartment floor but i just want to check if anyone thinks 250kg (im not sure what this is in pounds) is too heavy

so it would be much appreciated if some of you could take a little time to offer some advice to me, i feel determined to get a 7ft table, and it should be noted that this would only be a practice table and for some light hearted games but then again if im trying to fit a 7 ft table in a room that can only take a 6ft table then that probably wouldnt be much good either
