Academy of American Cue Art Announces New Officers and Initiative

 
The Academy of American Cue Art, a 501(c)3 not for profit foundation based in Texas recently announced its 2006 officers and board of directors, and simultaneously released information regarding a new and expanded business plan and initiative.

Representing the Academy as President is Dan Dishaw, with Board members Jim Stadum, Lynn Castle, Paul Del Giudice, Mike Shamos and Tom Watters. The Board is comprised of cue makers, cue collectors and member of the arts community.

The Academy has announced a new and reenergized approach towards accomplishing its goal of promoting the functional art of cue-making. Their expressed purpose is to challenge the cue-making community to "push the envelope" in developing new creations, by promoting recognition of cue art in the arts community at large and by supporting art education with charitable contributions from the proceeds of the Academy.

McDermott Handcrafted Cue’s New Manufacturing Cell Triples Capacity

MENOMONEE FALLS, WI.—February 1, 2006. McDermott Handcrafted Cues announced today the opening of its expanded manufacturing cell located at its Menomonee Falls facility. The new technologically advanced manufacturing cell triples McDermott’s shaft manufacturing capacity. The company has invested over $200,000 in new technology and equipment to ensure not only increased production capacity but to ensure even tighter tolerances.

Record 58% Sales Increase
McDermott reported a record sales increase in 2005 of 58%, its highest sales increase ever. “The additional capacity is critical for us to better serve our customer base and also to dramatically reduce lead times,” said Claude Napier, President and CEO of McDermott. “Achieving a staggering sales increase in 2005 was an impressive achievement on the part of our sales, customer service and manufacturing teams in the face of an increasingly challenging and complex marketplace.”

BCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Colorado Springs, Colorado: The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Nominating Committee is seeking qualified candidates who wish to run for one of five open positions (representing the Voting category) on the BCA Board of Directors, with four (4) three-year terms and one (1) two-year term set to begin in April of 2006. Nominations must be received at the BCA National Office no later than Friday, February 17, 2006. Formal election ballots will be issued to BCA voters on March 3, 2006.

Written nominations must be delivered to the BCA National Office or to any committee member no later than close of business on Friday, February 17, 2006.
