Gerda Hofstatter is one of the top billiards professionals donating time to the Billiard Education Foundation Challenge the Stars event being held on May 13, 2008 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) will host the annual Challenge the Stars benefit in conjunction with the BCAPL National 8- Ball Championships and the 8th Annual Predator International 10-Ball Championships in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 13. The festivities will take place in the Grande Ballroom of the Riviera Hotel & Casino at 8:00 pm. This benefit gives all players and spectators an opportunity to support youth billiard programs while mingling and competing with top pros from all over the world.

Pros like defending champion, Shane Van Boening (US), Allison Fisher (UK), Gerda Hofstatter (AT), Ralf Souquet (DE), Johnny Archer (US), Charlie Williams (US), Kim Shaw (UK), Anna  Kostanian (US), Tony Robles (US), Yu Ram Cha (KR), Francisco Bustamante (PH), Mika Immonen (FI), Allen Hopkins (US), Rodney Morris (US), Niels Feijen (NL), Shin Young Park (KR), Hayato Hijikata (JP), Thorsten Hohmann (DE), Mike Davis (US), Manuel Gama (PT), and John Morra (CA) are invited to help raise funds for the BEF.  Challengers can select three options of play: the BEF Challenge, $20 donation, challenger plays one game of 9-ball with designated pro; the Pro Challenge, $40 donation, shoot one game of 9-ball with one of your three top choices, based on availability; or the Ultimate Challenge, $100 donation, play three games of 9-ball with one of your three top choices, based on availability.  All challengers will receive an autographed certificate and a souvenir photo taken with their pro.

World trick shot champion Tom “Dr Cue” Rossman will make a special appearance and is sure to be a crowd pleaser. The audience will also have an opportunity to test their skill with the “Drill Instructor,” Dominic Esposito, for chances to win prizes.

Spectators and players can also participate in the raffles and auction to bid on an array of prizes. Whether you challenge a pro, test your skill, participate in the raffle, or make a donation, you can make a difference in youth billiard programs. Step up to the challenge—admission is FREE.  All proceeds benefit BEF programs such as scholarships, BEF Junior National 9-Ball Championships, and school billiard programs.

The Billiard Education Foundation (BEF) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization. For more information about the BEF, please visit BilliardEducation.org or contact Laura Smith at 303.926.1039 or e-mail info[at]BilliardEducation.org.
