Q's Bahamas 8 Ball Shootout Warm-Up E-mail

Q's Bahamas 8 Ball Shootout Warm-Up

ACS Port Charlotte, FLThe 2007-2008 McDermott All American Tour kicked off in Port Charlotte, Florida, with the “Q's  Bahamas 8 Ball Shootout Warm-Up”, at Q's Sports Bar and Girl. Matches handicapping twenty-one Master Men, Open Men, and Open Women 8 ball players were contested for the $840 in prize monies - which included $315 added to the tournament by Q's - showcasing one of the area’s toughest recent competitions.

Master men played to six games, while open men played to 4, and women played to 3. This leveled the playing field so that all the prize money was up for grabs for every competitor. The double elimination A-side semifinals saw Jeff Poteet (Fort Myers, FL) [4] defeat Woody Boleman (Fort Myers, FL) [4] 4-1, while master player Steve Knoll (North Port, FL) [6] sent Rick Madaffer (Naples, FL) [4] to the one-loss side on the hill, 6-3. In the A-side finals, Knoll again escaped on the hill by outpointing Poteet 6-3.

On the one loss side the top finishing woman, Kelli Knoll (North Port, FL) [3], finished 7-8th. Rick Madaffer eliminated Trey Jankowski (North Port, FL) [4] 4-2, while Scott Conley dropped Woody Boleman into the 5-6th slot by a 4-2 margin.  Madaffer then outpointed Conley 4-2, but in turn was relegated to 3rd place by Jeff Poteet 4-3.  The finals were all Steve Knoll, as he ran away with the title in a 6-1 display.

As the top finishing eligible ACS member, Scott Conley, won a paid 9-ball singles entry into the 2008 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas. A donated McDermott cue stick was raffled and went to local player, B.J. Williams.

The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric (Mercury Ultra cloth) and Nick Varner Signature Series Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the McDermott All American Tour. The ACS is still soliciting sponsors and host locations for the 2007/2008 All American Tour, which will advertise its schedule online on October 1. All information pertaining to the McDermott All American Tour is available at Americancuesports.org.

Final Results:
1st Steve Knoll
2nd  Jeff Poteet
3rd Rick Madaffer
4th  Scott Conley
