Manila, Philippines – In the battle of World Champions, Austria’s Jasmin Ouschan was the better woman as she took down nemesis Ga Young Kim of South Korea. Ouschan has a world title in 10-Ball, while Kim holds 2 world titles in 9-Ball. A total of 9 World Champions are attending this year’s event with three of them having a title in this event which are Rubilen Amit (2009), Jasmin Ouschan (2010), and Kelly Fisher (2011).
The Dragon Promotions produced 4th Annual Yalin Women’s World 10-Ball Championship is the most followed women’s event of the year. In the host country of the Philippines, it is the biggest female sporting event of the country. The event is supported by Asian table mammoth Yalin Billiards, advanced cue engineer OB Cues, long lasting Championship Tour Edition Cloth, top playing Aramith Balls, and #1 TV network broadcaster ABS-CBN. Star Billiards and Pool & Billiard Magazine are also proud supporters. This year’s edition will take place August 20th-24th once again at Robinson’s Galleria Mall, which has now become synonymous for creating the dynamic atmosphere of the coveted championship. Robinson’s Galleria is connected to the host hotel Crowne Plaza Galleria. With massive media and global networks covering the Yalin Women’s World 10-Ball Championship, it will continue as still the biggest and most watched women’s billiard event in the world.
Ouschan had commented in interviews that she had taken a few months time off from pool to recharge herself. She has also returned to the Philippines noticeably slimmer and without her coach this time. “I love playing in the Philippines. The fans are incredible here.”
Kim took the early lead with some incredible shotmaking including a table length jump shot where she cut the ball down the rail. Ouschan started off with several errors. The match turned at 3-3 when Kim failed to run out and once Ouschan took the lead, she never let go. In game 8, A crucial long cutshot on the 9-Ball from the far end of the table by Ouschan set her up for the kill. Final score 6-4 in favor of the blond beauty from Austria.
A frustrated Kim hasn’t been able to add the World 10-Ball to her list of accomplishments yet
“I want to win this tournament more than any other out there”, commented Kim in the press conference leading up to the event. It is likely Ouschan will remain undefeated and win the group to receive a free match bye, while Kim will settle for qualifying and having to play an extra match the next stage.
This is the biggest women’s sporting event of the year in the Philippines, with the host country featuring the best players from Italy, Japan, China, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, Russia, South Africa, India, Iran, Netherlands, Sweden, Venezuela, England, Norway, Taiwan, Austria, and Singapore.
