Jacobsen Plays Jam up at Tiger Billiards Event
Tiger Classic Tour / Clearwater, FL
Jake Jacobsen came back from a late loss at the Tiger Classic Tour’s February 20 stop to take it all, winning over Jarred Schlaugh in the finals. The $500-added amateur event was hosted by Park Place Billiards in Clearwater, FL, and attracted a field of 25.
The first meeting between Jacobsen and Schlaugh occurred in the winners’ side final four, where Schlaugh sent Jacobsen to the one-loss side 7-5 and then moved on to the hot seat match. His opponent, Jason Richko, had just bested Jose Del Rio 7-4. It was a close one, but Schlaugh edged out Richko 7-5 to remain undefeated.
Both Del Rio and Jacobsen rebounded once on the left side of the chart, eliminating Van Phan 7-6 and Mark Wathen 7-5, respectively. Del Rio and Jacobsen then faced off in the quarterfinal match, and though it was tight, Jacobsen moved on 7-5. After ousting Richko in the semifinals at second place, Jacobsen went on to his rematch with Schlaugh in the final match. The extended race to 14 saw a lot of play by both, but in the end, Jacobsen wreaked revenge to the tune of 14-9.
