Final Eight Return to Turning Stone Sunday
Turning Stone XVI / Verona, NY
Only eight players will return for Sunday’s matches at the Turning Stone Classic XVI, being held this week at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY.
On the winners’ side, Dennis Hatch leads the top half of the bracket and is in the hunt for his first-ever Turning Stone title. After a 9-1 routing of Beau Runningen, Hatch went on to play Earl Strickland, who had just bested Gary Lutman 9-4. Hatch dominated their match and sent Strickland west with a 9-4 win.
Mike “Fireball” Dechaine delivered Jarrod Clowery to the one-loss side 9-5 and then faced off against Shane Van Boening. “The South Dakota Kid” put up a fight but it was Dechaine who advanced 9-6. Dechaine’s opponent Sunday will be Stevie Moore, who delivered a 9-4 loss to Gabe Owen earlier.

Strickland is still alive going into Sunday and eliminated Shawn Putnam in his last round 9-2. Meeting Strickland Sunday is Hunter Lombardo, who recently defeated Justin Bergman 9-8, Mike Zuglan 9-6, and Raj Hundal 9-8.
