Seminole Pro Tour Down to Final Six
Seminole Pro Tour / Gem City Open / Marietta, GA
Shane Van Boening is leading the pack at the Seminole Pro Tour / Gem City Open, which has wound down to its final 6 players from the full 64-player field they began with two days ago.
Van Boening’s closest match was in the first round against Darin Brewer, whom he defeated 9-6. Since then he has been demolishing opponents, only giving up eight games in the last four rounds. After his 9-1 trouncing of James Roberts Saturday evening, he went on to knock Donny Mills into the one-loss side 9-2 and then sent Charlie Williams to follow 9-3.In the hot seat Van Boening will face Mike Dechaine. Dechaine’s road has more speedbumps than has Van Boening’s—two of his last three matches have gone double-hill. His last match of the evening Saturday saw him best Rod Rentz 9-8, and then in Sunday’s first round he had to face Hall of Famer Johnny Archer, whom he defeated 9-6. A hill-hill nail-biter over Adam Smith put Dechaine in the hot seat match against Van Boening.

Smith is still alive, though, and will face off against Corey Deuel in the next round. Deuel recently eliminated Mills 9-5 and James Baraks 9-6. In the other one-loss side match, Williams will play Wilkie, whom narrowly escaped a hill-hill match with Archer in the previous round.
