Ike Runnels swept the December 19 stop of the Lucasi Hybrid All-American Tour, besting Greg Pitts in the final match to take first place. Hosted by The Pyramid Club in Addison, IL, the $500-added event featured a 47-player field in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 9-foot Brunswick Gold Crown pool tables.
Runnels took the undefeated march to the hot seat. In the A-side semifinals, Runnels, rated a 7 on the local handicapping system used, took down Mike McGovern 7-3, while Pitts outpointed Percy Mitchell 5-2. The A-side finals showcased Runnels defeating Pitts 7-3.
On the B-side Don Daley eliminated Sandy Lively at seventh place by a 5-2 margin, and Steve Hickman ousted Steve Friesen 5-3 in the same round. In the next B-side round, McGovern and Hickman ended the runs of Daley and Percy Mitchell, both by scores of 5-3. McGovern then clipped Hickman into fourth place 5-4. In the B-side finals, Pitts took out McGovern on the hill 5-4, setting up the finals. In the final match, Pitts received a two-game spot from undefeated Runnels, but it was not enough, as Runnels controlled the first set 7-4 for the event title.
