Fast Eddie’s Olhausen 9-Ball Tour / Odessa, TX

Tommy Tokoph made a run through the one-loss side to come out on top of the Fast Eddie’s field June 13, taking first in two sets of the true double-elimination finals. The $1,000-added event drew 39 players to Fast Eddie’s in Odessa, TX.
While Tokoph was working his way through the left side of the bracket, the final four on the winners’ side emerged: Jason Dutchover versus James Davis, Jr., and David Gutierrez versus Ramon Rodriguez. Dutchover and Gutierrez came out strong with 9-4 and 9-5 wins, respectively.

On the one-loss side, Tokoph took down Champ Massengil 7-4 to meet up with Davis, while Nick Tofoya bested Sean Black to meet up with Rodriguez. While Rodriguez had a strong 7-3 win over Black, Tokoph had an even stronger 7-2 win over Davis, and the two were set to face off. Tokoph, though, already had his eye on the finals, and he went on his way with a score of 7-4.
His next obstacle was Dutchover, who had fallen 9-6 in the match for the hot seat, and after taking care of him 7-4, Tokoph arrived at his final destination.

Gutierrez proved to be a tough hurdle, but Tokoph was up to the challenge. The first set, a race to 9, went hill-hill, and first place would be determined by the second set, a race to 7. In the alternate-break format, the men traded games, marking up the majority of their games with breaks and runs, and making hardly any mistakes. However, a costly error by Gutierrez in the final game of another hill-hill set gave Tokoph the opportunity he needed, and he took it willingly, finishing off the rack for the win.
