Davis, Moore, Shuffett Out of the Running in Florida
Seminole Pro Tour / Spring Hill, FL
by Lea Andrews
Day two of the Seminole Pro Tour has come to a close, and some notable names are out. Buddy “The Rifleman” Hall fell to Josh Lewis, as did 14-year-old Landon Shuffett, who had already knocked WPBA player Tracie Hines out. Steve Moore, who was put into the one-loss side by Mike Davis yesterday, managed to stay in the tournament today after a thriller of a match against Justin Hall, whom he played in the finals of last month’s stop. The outcome was the same in this match as a safety error by Hall in the final rack allowed Moore to close out the set. He couldn’t do the same in the next set, though, as he was knocked out by Jimmy Dempsey. Absent from play today was Filipino Roberto Gomez, who was surprisingly out of the tournament after playing just two matches yesterday.
The final four of the winners’ side pitted Ronnie Wiseman against local legend John DiToro, and Davis against Tony “The Sniper” Crosby. Wiseman and Crosby emerged the victors and will play the match for the hot seat tomorrow.
On the one-loss side, DiToro ended Josh Lewis’ hopes for victory, earning himself one of the four tickets to the third day of the tournament. Matching up with him tomorrow will be Hunter Lombardo, who yesterday put Hall on the left side of the bracket and today put Davis out of the tournament.
