Miller Defeats Deeder in Finals
Pechauer All-American Tour / Chenoa, IL
Larry Miller rocked the April 25 stop of the Pechauer All-American Tour, besting Pete Deeder in the finals. The $500-added event was hosted by Finish Line Food and Fun in Chenoa, IL, and featured 29 players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes.
Miller marched undefeated to the hot seat by defeating Paul Wenglewski 6-3. Wenglewski had earlier dispatched Deeder in a semifinal match on the winners’ side 6-2, while Miller outpointed Tom Mettille in the other semifinal 6-2
The one-loss bracket showcased Deeder as the hot stick. Mike Mercurio had been placed in the one-loss side by Jacob Varner in the first match of the day, but Mercurio got rolling and met Varner again to gain revenge, where Varner was stopped at seventh place.
Bob Nodine also laid waste to the B-side and defeated Charlie Wolfe at seventh place as well. Both Mercurio and Nodine ended their runs at fifth place at the hands of Tom Mettille and Deeder, respectively. This set the stage for Deeder to oust Mettille at fourth place by a score of 4-2.
Deeder continued his run and avenged his earlier loss, winning the left side bracket finals over Wenglewski 4-2.
This set up the finals match between Miller and Deeder. Deeder was down early in the first set 4-0 but battled back to win the set 6-4. But Miller proved to be too much for Deeder in the second set by taking an early lead 2-0. Deeder would not recover this time, losing the deciding set 4-2.
