Lewis Goes Undefeated on Great Southern Billiard Tour
Great Southern Billiard Tour / Inman, SC
by Skip Maloney
Scott Lewis completed an undefeated weekend with a commanding win in the finals of the Great Southern Billiard Tour’s amateur stop the weekend of March 14-15. Streamed live on the Internet via Ustream, the $1,500-added, A-B handicapped event drew 93 amateurs to G Jays in Inman, SC.
Lewis gained the hot seat after wins over Josh Roberts 10-7 and Clay Branham 10-5. Branham had just concluded a hill-hill victory over Ray Benish.
Mike Basha, in the meantime, who’d been sent west by Lewis in the fourth round of play, took his opening set on the one-loss side, defeating Chase Smith 7-4. He followed it up with a 7-5 win over Richard West, which set him up for a match versus Benish. It was Steve Cox, after wins over Andy Twitchen and Dustin Gosnell, who was there to meet Roberts.
Roberts advanced with a 10-4 win over Gosnell, as Basha started picking up speed with a 7-2 win over Benish. Basha then dropped Roberts into fourth place by the same score and turned his attention to Branham in the semifinals.

Basha got by Branham 7-5 for a second chance at Lewis. The double-A-handicapped Lewis had to win 10 games before the B-handicapped Basha won seven and did so handily. Lewis allowed Basha only two racks and took home top honors with a strong 10-2 win.
