Four Undefeated Remain in Reno
The $8,000-added 9-ball division of the U.S. Bar Table Championships has revealed their final four undefeated opponents, while twelve remain on the one-loss side of the chart. The tournament is being hosted by the Sands Regency Hotel & Casino in Reno, NV.
Both contenders for the $2,000 bonus money for the all-around champion, Darren Appleton, who won the 10-ball division earlier, and Glen Atwell, who took the 9-ball event Friday, make up half of the undefeated field. Appleton started off his day with a 5-2 drubbing of Justin Whitehead and followed this with a 5-4 win over Arlo Walsman. Appleton’s next opponent will be Steve Moore. Moore has notched two strong wins so far Saturday, beginning with a 5-1 victory over Johnathan Pinegar and following that up with a 5-0 win over Stan Tourangeau.
Neck and neck with Appleton is Atwell, who started his day off with a 5-0 whitewashing of Ric Jones and then added a 5-3 defeat of Tyler Edey. Atwell’s next opponent will be Nick Kruger. Kruger’s victories Saturday include a 5-1 score over Paul Juarez and a 5-1 over Jerry Matchin. Still alive on the one-loss side are Shane Van Boening, Joey Gray, and Chip Compton, among others.
