Two in a Row for Acciavatti
Dominiak Cues Northeast Tour / Pittsfield, MA
Tom Acciavatti made it two in a row when he claimed another Dominiak Cues Northeast Amateur 10-Ball Tour title a week after his previous win. The March 1 event was hosted by Casey’s Billiards in Pittsfield, MA, and a field of 21 ignored the blizzard warnings again and made the trek in attempt to capture the title and the $500-added purse and prizes.
Gene Hunt made his way through top half of the winners’ side brackets with wins over Chuck Hill and Doug Wabnig before being sent to the one-loss side by Acciavatti. Rogers was coming through the bottom half, defeating tour regulars Art Houghtaling, Rob Francoer, and Shawn Moulton in order to reach the hot seat match, where he delivered to Acciavatti his first loss.
Hunt was waiting for Acciavatti in the semifinals, and Acciavatti used all of his experience to advance to the final match for the second stop in a row. In the finals, Acciavatti jumped out to an early lead after a couple of unforced errors by Hill. Ultimately it was all Acciavatti as he kept up the great shot-making and brilliant safety play to take home his second tour stop title in a row.
