The Turning Stone Classic XII has whittled its field down to eight players on the winners’ side and eight on the west side of the chart. The field began Thursday with a full 128-player field at Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY. Sunday will see the return of four players in each bracket.
Player of the Year in 2007, Shane Van Boening is still undefeated as yet. After his 9-7 defeat of defending champion Johnny Archer, this afternoon he came through a hill-hill bout with Mike Davis to advance and will next play frequent Joss Tour winner Dennis Hatch. Hatch bested Pete Tascarella Sr. 9-5 earlier.
Louis Ulrich, who was runner-up in this event last year, will meet Ralf Souquet in the winners’ bracket, having given Mike Badsteubner his first loss 9-5. Souquet sent Jeremy Sossei to the west side 9-6.

Sarah Rousey was finally fallen by Oscar Dominguez 9-6, whose next match will be against Mario Morra, who bested Ivaylo Petrov 9-2. The final winners’ match Saturday will be between European powerhouses Mika Immonen and Thorsten Hohmann. Hohmann gave Darren Appleton his first loss 9-2, while Immonen did the same to Daryl Peach 9-1.
In the one-loss side, only one female player remains. After her hill-hill loss to Peach, Allison Fisher won three matches on the left side over Danny Heidrich 9-7, George San Souci 9-0, and Pete Tascarella Sr. 9-3. Her next match will be against Shawn “Big Bubba” Putnam.
