Ng Claims Regional Tour Championships in Bellevue
by InsidePOOL Staff
In a thrilling single-set finale, Maryland’s Ming Ng defeated Colorado’s Nicole Keeney to claim the title of regional tour champion. Both pool players are tour champions of their respective regions—Ng of the Tiger Pool Tour and Keeney on the Arizona Women’s Billiard Tour.
Ng took the first rack, and with several short racks in the middle, she quickly jumped to a 7-2 lead. Both players exchanged a series of errors. Their nerves appeared to be getting the best of them. In the final rack, Ng was ahead 8-5 before a safety battle on the 3 ball led to Keeney kicking and hitting it but then scratching. Ng took the final set 9-5.
An elated Ng explained, “I didn’t hit a ball until two days before the tournament. I played so bad, I cried. So when I came here I had no expectations.” Her approached paid of. She will receive a $900 payday and four paid WPBA classic invitations.
Results:
1st Ming Ng $900 + 4 paid WPBA spots
2nd Nicole Keeney $1,500
3rd Bonnie Plowman $850
4th Morgan Steinman
5th Tina Larsen $500

Afterward, I asked her if she wanted my belt and in perfect Nicole fashion, she said, “Sure.” I was happy I could contribute. Read the story here. [...]
