Dominiak Cues Northeast Amateur 10-Ball Tour / Latham, NY
The Dominiak Cues Northeast Amateur 10-Ball Tour’s second stop was held February 7 at Diamond Eight Billiards in Latham, NY, with a strong field of 28 players. Players made the trek from Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, as well as the local NY top guns, in attempt to capture the title to the stop’s $500-added cash.
The double-elimination format saw Chuck Hill make his way through top half of the winners’ side playing steadily and confidently. On the bottom half of the winners’ side it was local player Shawn Moulton who made his way to the hot seat match. This match proved to be a battle, and at hill-hill Hill left an opening for Moulton that he took full advantage of, running out to send Hill to the west side.
Waiting for Hill was Tom Acciavatti, who had lost an early-round match and worked his way back through tough opponents Lee Lemieux, Rob Francoeur, and Frank Rich in some close matches. Hill had his sights on getting another chance at Moulton in the finals and was able to eliminate Acciavatti in a great hill-hill match.
The finals proved to be almost a mirror of the hot seat match. Both playing steadily and deliberately, the match went hill-hill in the race-to-5 finals. After trading innings, Moulton left Hill a fairly easy layout, which he steadily ran out for the title, first-place cash, and new Dominiak Cue.
