Blaze 9-Ball Tour / Scranton, PA
International jetsetter Darren Appleton stopped by the Blaze 9-Ball Tour before heading off to Reno and ended up with first place. Cosmos Billiards in Scranton, PA, played host to the field of 35 players who came out to play February 22.
Leading the top half of the bracket was Dave Daya with wins over Rob Pole 7-6, Billy Banks 7-2, Pat McNally 7-5, Allen Hopkins 7-6, and Adam Kielar 7-6. Appleton took control of the bottom half, notching victories over Dard Aceron 7-1, Rich Larossa 7-6, Joe Kuligowski 7-0, and Marc Vidal 7-1.
Daya and Appleton collided in the hot seat match, with Appleton winning handily 7-4 to advance to the finals. Kielar was waiting for Daya on the west side. It was a close match, and in the end Kielar triumphed hill-hill. In the finals, Kielar had to defeat Appleton twice for the win. The first set went hill-hill, but the second set was all Appleton (pictured right), as the Brit easily won 6-2.
