Out of a total of 113 entrants into the Music City Open at JOB Billiards in Madison, TN, Johnathan “Hennessee From Tennessee” Pinegar came through undefeated, taking top honors over Chad Vilmont in the final match.

Pinegar had an easy time of it for his first three rounds but barely escaped a hill-hill battle with Mike Dunklin, which he won 11-10. It was out of the frying pan, into the fire from there, as his next match-up was against Steve Moore. Moore was never able to get started in that match and was sent to the one-loss side 11-2, putting Pinegar in the final four undefeated.

His next opponent, InsidePOOL’s Player of the Year for 2007, Shane Van Boening had just dealt Shawn “Big Bubba” Putnam his first loss 11-5. Unimpressed, Pinegar drilled Van Boening 11-6 to advance to the hot seat match, where he faced off against Chuck Ralston, whom he bested 11-7 to rest and await his final opponent.

On the west side of the chart, Vilmont had faced an almost Sisyphean task. After winning his first match against Larry McAdams, he met up with Van Boening and was dealt an 11-3 loss. From there he had to play eight matches on the left side before being able to wreak revenge upon Van Boening, ousting him 11-7. Vilmont then moved on to the quarterfinal match against Putnam, whom he dismissed easily 11-3. Ralston made a play to return to face Pinegar again in the semifinals but got shot down 11-2. Now in the finals facing Pinegar, however, Vilmont’s momentum failed him, as “Hennessee From Tennessee” claimed the title and final match 11-7.
