Monthly 9-Ball Event / Campbellsville, KY
by Tom Fryer
Robert Frost welcomed in the New Year by claiming first place at Rack N Cue in Campbellsville, KY, January 4 after going into the one-loss side early. The event was the monthly open 9-ball, races to 7 on Valley bar boxes, and true double elimination with $1,000 guaranteed prize fund. A total of 36 shooters turned out to compete in the area’s most active tournament room.

Robert Frost captured the title in Cambellsville.
The final six shooters composed a dangerous group of 9-ballers. Frost knocked out Eddie Miller 7-1, while Duke Laha muscled out the powerful Billy Peay by 7-3. The winners’ final saw David Rice edging 14-year-old straight shooter Landon Shuffett at hill-hill. Frost went on to knock Laha into fourth place 7-3.
That left Shuffett and Frost to face off for the right to be in the finals. Once again, it was a thriller with Frost getting the case game at double-hill. He was loose and in stroke as he moved on, needing to best Rice twice. Perhaps the wait in the hot seat cooled Rice off, but it was Frost taking the $500 first-place prize by 7-3 and 7-5.
Results:
1st Robert Frost $500
2nd David Rice $200
3rd Landon Shuffett $125
4th Duke Laha $75
5th Billy Peay $50
Eddie Miller
