by InsidePOOL Staff
Southern boy Steve Moore walked away with the December 6 stop of the J. Pechauer Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour, defeating Jason Stemen in the finals. The event was hosted by Side Pocket Cue Club & Grill in Marietta, GA, and featured a $1,000-added prize purse.
Moore had to work his way through the one-loss side to the final match, and in the quarterfinals he matched up with and eliminated T.F. Whittington 7-5. He advanced to the semifinals against Jessie Middlebrook, who had just been dealt his first loss at the hands of Stemen 7-4. Middlebrook’s luck didn’t change in the semifinals, for Moore handed him a donut and went along his way. In the extended race-to-9 final match, Stemen put up a good fight, but it was Moore’s night, and he took the final match and title 9-6.
In the $500-added amateur event the next day, Jess Tabet took top honors. Duane Bourgeois sent Tabet to the one-loss side with a 5-4 victory in the hot seat match, but Tabet’s semifinal match against Amy Chen went in his favor 4-1, allowing him to make a return in the finals. There he wreaked revenge on Bourgeois, only allowing him one rack before winning the match 7-1.
