Michael Seas took down the sixteenth Tri-State Tour stop of the season, besting Scott Simonetti in the finals. The A-D, $500-added handicapped event drew 35 entrants to Castle Billiards in East Rutherford, NJ, November 8.
In the winners’ side final four, Seas took on John Trobiano, as Simonetti battled Jeff Dworzanski to determine who’d compete for the hot seat. Seas bested Trobiano 7-1, as Simonetti sent Dworzanski west 10-5. Simonetti then sent Seas to the semifinals with an 8-4 victory.
Mark Pantovic and Jacob Schwartz, having defeated Burt Madaio and Danny Cintron, respectively, were on the one-loss side, waiting for Trobiano and Dworzanski. Trobiano shut Pantovic out, as Dworzanski defeated Schwartz 7-3. In the quarterfinal match that followed, Trobiano advanced to meet Seas in the semifinals with a 7-5 victory over Dworzanski.
A strong battle ensued to determine who would face Simonetti in the finals. Trobiano and Seas fought back and forth to a 4-4 tie, broken by Seas on a 2-9 combination. Seas then snapped the 9 on the following break to reach the hill first. Trobiano managed one more rack before Seas finished it at 7-5 and moved back for his second match against Simonetti.
Seas had momentum and a four-hour wait by Simonetti on his side going into the finals. He took advantage of both, defeating Simonetti handily 10-3 and taking home top honors.
