Moses snapped off the KBP event at PJ's Billiards in Port Richie, FL.
Billy Moses held off a persistent one-loss side challenge by Jim Sandaler to go undefeated and take top honors on the KBP Amateur 9-Ball Tour stop the weekend of November 23-24. The $2,000-added event drew 33 entrants to PJ’s Billiards Bar and Grill in Port Ritchie, FL.
Early Sunday, among the final four on the winners’ side, Moses had defeated Louie Smith 9-2, as Trey Jankowski sent Jose DelRio west 9-3. Jankowski and Moses battled for the hot seat, with Jankowski making the trip to the one-loss side quickly on the heels of a 9-1 Moses victory.
On the one-loss side, Sandaler, working from among the tournament’s final 12 players, defeated Casey Grove 7-5 and then, as the races increased to 9, he bested Joe Scarborough 9-6 for the right to meet DelRio. He was joined by Mike Delawder, who’d gotten past Jeremy Bell 7-5 and Paul LeCain 9-2, to meet Smith. It was Sandler and Delawder advancing to the quarterfinals, with Sandaler besting Delawder 9-6 to move into the semifinals against Jankowski. With a 9-6 win, Sandaler turned his attention to Moses.
The two struggled back and forth and eventually were knotted at hill-hill. On the final break, Moses scratched, giving Sandaler ball in hand. Sandaler failed to make the 1 ball, leading to the assumption that he may have been looking to three-foul Moses. Moses, though, not only successfully kicked to hit that 1 ball, but the subsequent carom rolled into the 9 ball and pocketed. Moses grabbed the first-place prize
