Kennedy won his second straight J. Pechauer Southeast 9-Ball Tour event at The Art of Billiards in Gainesville, FL.
Tommy Kennedy took a somewhat different route to win his second straight J. Pechauer Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour stop the weekend of November 1-2. The $1,000-added event drew 34 entrants to The Art of Billiards in Gainesville, FL.
In Savannah, Kennedy was defeated in the opening round of play and battled back from the one-loss side to defeat Neil Fujiwara in the semifinals and Butch Croft in the finals. This time out, Kennedy gained the hot seat by sending Fujiwara west 9-4, and it was Croft battling back from the one-loss side to eventually meet him. From among the final four on the winners’ side in this event, it was Steve Foster heading west after a hill-hill victory by Kennedy and Walter Blacker following after a 9-5 defeat at the hands of Fujiwara.
Croft, in the meantime, advanced past Dan Kreiser 9-6 to meet Foster, as Te Tang defeated Alex Pemberton 9-7 for the right to meet Blacker. It was Croft and Blacker advancing to the quarterfinals, won by Croft 9-7. The repeat from the previous tour stop retained its symmetry, as Croft dropped Fujiwara into his second straight third-place finish and looked to change the final results.
He didn’t. In fact, not only was the end result the same, so was the final score—11-9—as Kennedy took his second straight win on the tour.
