The last day at the Great Southern Billiard Tour Player Championships in Fayettville, NC started with just 4 players left in both the 10-Ball and one-pocket division. Charlie Bryant has exemplified a mastery of both divisions by be the only player to be left in both Tournaments.
Leonardo Andam, although quite a determined and knowledgeable one-pocket player, could not match Tony Chohan’s eagerness to stay alive in the tournament. This was made apparent when Chohan set the record for the shortest one-pocket match we’ve seen in this tournament yet. His match against Leonardo Andam in the one-loss side of the one-pocket bracket took less than 20 minuntes, contrary to the Mike Davis, Nick Varner match we saw yesterday that took well over 4 hrs. Tony played very offensively and was able to make the 8 out every time he approached the table shutting out Andam 4-0.
The other match on the one-loss bracket of the one-pocket division was with 19 year old John “bet some” Morra against Detroit’s own Adam Smith. Morra played a near flawless game with some very impressive bank shots securing his position in the next round and beating Smith 4-2. Morra advanced to play and defeat underdog Barry Rogers 4-1, who had just lost to Nick Varner 4-1 on the winner’s side of the bracket. Nick Varner, advanced to play match favorite Gabe Owen in the one-pocket division.

Owen proved why he is a favorite but shutting out one-pocket legend Nick Varner 4-0, then continued to proclaim his dominance by beating Charlie “Hillbilly” Bryant” for the hot seat 4-1. Hillbilly, the only player in both the 10-Ball and one-pocket division proceded to make his way closer to the finals by beating Morra 4-2. Hillbilly now awaits to play BCA Hall of Famer Nick Varner for a chance to play in the finals against undefeated Gabe Owen.
10-ball had its share of exciting moments when we saw Jonathan “Hennessee” Pinegar defeat Shannon Daulton for the hot seat in a close match of 9-6. Charlie Bryant in a fast paced match against former US Open 9-ball champion Shane Van Boening assured the crowd that he is a hungry dominant force in both these tournaments. Charlie beat Shane against a newly instated 30 second shot clock 9-3.
