Mike Wong battled back from the one-loss side to defeat Anthony Pizarro on the Tri-State Tour stop October 4. The $750-added, A-D handicapped event, which was hosted by Master Billiards in Queens, NY, drew 28 entrants.

The winners’ side battles among the final four were all 7-5 contests that advanced Pizarro and Adam Kosmin to the hot seat match. Danny Cintron and Wali Muhammad moved west to battle for fifth place, and Kosmin followed them over to the semifinals.

In the meantime, Wong, on the one-loss side, was working his way back through Theo Burry 8-6 and Michael Aro 9-6 before facing Cintron. Wilfredo Albay awaited Muhammad. Albay advanced to the quarterfinals against Wong, who defeated him in a hill-hill battle.

Wong dropped Kosmin into third place and turned to face Pizarro in the finals. The two battled back and forth to a 6-6 tie, which was broken by Wong and automatically extended the match to seven games. Wong won the next two to grab the first-place prize.
