Danny Green held off a one-loss side challenge by Paul Helms to win the one-pocket event of the Tiger Pool Tour stop the weekend of August 2-3. A total of 21 entrants signed on for the $1,150-added event at Fast Break Café in Sterling, VA.

Green and Pooky Rasmeloungon sent Ryan McCreesh and Ryan Jones, respectively, to the one-loss side before facing each other in the hot seat match. Green sent Rasmeloungon to the semifinals with a 3-2 victory.
Helms, in the meantime, was embarked on a one-loss side journey to the finals that included early victories over Richard Barney and Jerry Slivka, a 2-0 victory over McCreesh, and a 2-1 defeat of Shawn Toni in the quarterfinals. He bested Rasmeloungon in the semifinals 2-0 to advance to the finals against Green.
Having given up only a single game in his last three matches and facing Green, who’d given up four racks in his previous two matches, Helms had momentum on his side. Green, however, took command in the race to three and defeated Helms 3-1 to finish the tournament undefeated.
In the $350-added ladies’ event, which drew 12 entrants  Sunday, Ming Ng defeated Mirjuana Brujiacic 9-6 in the finals, avenging an earlier 7-2 loss in the hot seat match. On the one-loss side, Cheryl Squire shut out Rachel Eliazar 5-0 to take on Ng in the semifinals. Ng defeated Squire 5-3 for a second chance at Brujiacic. Ng took an early lead in those finals, which, in spite of a Brujiacic run that brought it to within two at 7-5, she never relinquished. Ng reached hill first and allowed Brujiacic only one more game before closing it out at 9-6.
