Khan Conquers All at Tri-State Billiard Event

The Tri-State Tour hosted a 10-ball event August 16 at Master Billiards in Sunnyside, NY. They had 24 participants in the $500-added event, which was won by Carl Yusef Khan over Tim Edmonds in the final match.

Khan dominated the winners’ side, besting Geoff Bauer 7-3 to advance to the hot seat match. There he met Mark Mallari, who had just sent Thomas Ho to the one-loss side 7-3. Khan triumphed over Mallari in a close 7-5 match and then awaited a challenger in the finals.

On the west side of the chart, Edmonds was working his way through, besting last event’s winner George Osipovitch 7-3 and Ed Manlulu 7-4. He then dropped Ho into fifth place 8-7 as Peter Yiu did the same to Bauer 7-4. Yiu and Edmonds matched up in the quarterfinal match, with Edmonds emerging as the 8-7 winner. With a 7-5 victory over Mallari in the semifinals, Edmonds jettisoned into the final match against Khan. In the extended race to 9, Edmonds’ momentum wasn’t enough to propel him forward, as Khan managed to pull off the 9-7 win.
