Bergman and Cole Capture Viking Billiard Tour Victories

Highpockets Billiards in Memphis, TN, played host to the July 19-20 stop of the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour. With a total prize fund of $8,120 in the open and amateur divisions, this event drew in 87 players, with Justin Bergman and Randy Cole taking top honors in their respective divisions.
Bergman rolled through the top half of the winners’ bracket undefeated, notching wins over
Peter Gee 9-3, Melanie Gilmer 9-1, Chuck Raulston 9-7, Monroe Jones 9-2, and Jason Evans 9-1. He met up with David Gutierrez in the hot seat match and triumphed 9-8. Gutierrez didn’t remain long on the one-loss side, besting Jason Evans in the semifinals 9-6 before earning a rematch with Bergman. Another double-hill match ensued, with Bergman again coming out the 9-8 winner.

After drawing a first-round bye, Cole suffered a loss at the hands of Jake Wayire 7-3. From there, Cole worked his way back, winning over Daniel Clonch 5-0, Dan Falcon 5-0, Robert Green 5-3, Carlos Ramos 5-3, Bobby Morgan 5-4, Jake Waymire 5-1, and Patrick Boykin in the semifinals 5-0. Cole then proceeded to the finals, where he defeated Craig Sebastian 7-5 and 5-2 to win the amateur division.
